CredSure Marks Six Decades of Insurance Leadership with Anniversary Golf Day and Gala

CredSure Insurance underscored its long-standing role in Zimbabwe’s financial sector by hosting a 60th-anniversary golf day at Chapman Golf Club and an evening gala in Harare on 14 November 2025. The milestone brought together clients, partners, and industry leaders to reflect on the company’s evolution from a specialist credit insurer to a diversified provider of short-term products.

CredSure was established in 1965 by a consortium of banks, insurance and reinsurance firms working with the Industrial Development Corporation. Its founding mandate focused on strengthening Zimbabwe’s export competitiveness by offering protection against commercial and political non-payment risks. The company’s historic background remains accessible through its corporate information page on CredSure’s official website, which outlines how it expanded its scope in 2007 to include general short-term insurance classes.

The firm’s credit insurance portfolio continues to anchor its identity. Export credit insurance shields exporters from non-payment arising from insolvency, protracted default, or political events. Domestic credit insurance offers similar protection to local companies trading on open-account terms. CredSure’s long-standing membership in the Berne Union, the global association of export credit and investment insurers, provides access to international databases and debt-collection networks used to assess buyer risk and support trade finance.

Its short-term insurance products include motor, marine, agricultural, home, fire, accident, assets, and all-risk cover as well as engineering and liability policies. The company is also recognised for its work in the construction sector through bonds and guarantees, an area documented in industry directories such as DevelopmentAid’s CredSure profile and Tracxn’s 2025 company overview.

Managing Director Maxwell Nderere emphasises operational modernisation and a UMA-driven distribution model, which enables specialised underwriting support across business lines. Public updates on CredSure’s community engagements and corporate activities are routinely published on the CredSure Facebook page and through event notices such as the Instagram call-to-participate for the anniversary golf tournament.

The 60-year celebration comes at a moment of heightened competition in Zimbabwe’s insurance sector, where digitalisation, capital adequacy, and risk diversification have become critical to long-term viability. By highlighting its origins, partnerships, and broadening product suite, CredSure positioned the anniversary as both a reflection on institutional resilience and a signal of intent to deepen its market presence.

The company enters its next decade with a mandate shaped by trade facilitation, credit protection, and sectorwide demand for reliable short-term cover. Its leadership argues that these pillars will determine the trajectory of Zimbabwe’s insurance ecosystem, particularly as businesses navigate currency volatility, global supply-chain pressures, and shifting regulatory expectations.
